EIN / Tax Identification Number Information

An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is a nine-digit number assigned by the IRS and used to identify taxpayers. We will apply for and obtain your EIN from the IRS electronically. This option is the fastest way to obtain the EIN.

In order to issue an EIN, the IRS requires a Principal to provide their Social Security Number. This is used strictly for obtaining the EIN and to help prevent fraud. Once the EIN process is complete, the SSN is deleted from the database.

IRS Contact Address

The IRS requires a physical street address to issue an Employer Identification Number (EIN).
  • PO Boxes are not accepted.
  • This address is not made public and is used only by the IRS to mail the official EIN Confirmation Letter.
  • It is the client's responsibility to provide a valid, deliverable address that can be monitored for at least ninety (90) days.
  • After the EIN is issued, the confirmation letter may take a couple of weeks to arrive.
  • Foreign addresses are permitted, but may cause delays.
